Voice

Voice

You can smile if you really want to.
You can tell me a secret if you really want to.
You can smile if you really want to.
You can be who you are if you really want to.
You can smile if you really want to.
You can scream if you really want to.
You can smile if you really want to.
You can dream if you really want to.
You can smile if you really want to.
You can dance if you really want to.
You can smile if you really want to.
You can see what you want if you really want to.
You can smile if you really want to.
You can slow down if you really want to.
You can smile if you really want to.
You can loock at me if you really want to.
You can smile if you really want to.

a Performance by Hana Shaikholeslami Kordestan and Laila Evensen (NO)

This work is a collaboration between artist Shaikholeslami Kordestan and Evensen, who only met a few months ago through the Artists Unlimited house, where SHaikholeslami Kordestan lives, and Evensen spent time as a resident artist this spring.

‘Voice’ is a work that looks at the communication and interaction between individuals in a fast track society where there often is little time for consideration, and came out of discussions, and observations made by the two artists.

Evensen, currently lives in Berlin, she studied art in the UK (1997-2001), and has taken part in various international art programs over the last 11 years, in addition to being part of groups like The Red Gallery, and 54°N (UK) and Safe as Milk (NO) producing exhibitions, video programs, and events.
The work of Evensen normally takes form as installation, including objects, plants and video.
